The 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia™ is drawing ever nearer – with just 31 days to go! Between now and the start of the World Cup, we will take a closer look at a different statistic from the history of the tournament each day.

Mexico City saw Pele’s Brazil triumph in 1970 and, 16 years later, the Mexican capital was also the setting of Diego Maradona’s Argentina being crowned world champions. In 1974, Munich witnessed Franz Beckenbauer and Co achieve global glory on home soil, before Italy lifted their fourth World Cup Trophy in the same city 32 years later.

Rome, Paris and Rio de Janeiro also feature on this list of 31 cities, providing fitting backdrops to countless exploits that have gone down in the history of world football and brought joy to the beautiful game’s passionate fans.​
